PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling memory/peripheral device are provided to observe an AMBA(Advanced Micro controller Bus Architecture) standard for fitting to application chips adopting the AMBA, to store information in case that an external peripheral device is changed, to select a connecting method in accordance with the stored information, and to support an error recovering function. CONSTITUTION: A system control unit(10) performs a chip external connection and an error recovery and operates an ASB(Advanced System Bus) as a basic connection and performs a user interface function as an APB(Advanced Peripheral Bus) connection. An AMBA ASB connection unit(20) creates signals of the system control unit(10) by operating signals inputted through the ASB, and converts the signals created in the system control unit(10) into signals adapted to an ASB timing standard, and outputs the signals using ASB bus. An AMBA APB connection unit(30) creates signals of the system control unit(10) by operating signals inputted through the APB, and converts the signals created in the system control unit(10) into signals adapted to an APB timing standard, and outputs the signals using APB bus. If a data size of the system control unit(10) is different from an external data size of the system control unit(10), a dynamic data pass logic unit(40) performs a dynamic data size reprocessing function for adjusting the different size.
