PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit a printer in such an environment of printer as processing print data being fed from a host computer through a network, e.g. LAN. SOLUTION: The printer comprises means for making a decision whether a first setting for allowing print regardless of an identifier designated from an external computer has been made or a second setting for performing printing when a designated identifier matches an identifier stored in a storing means has been made, means for receiving print data being fed from a host computer, and means for allowing print out of the print data if an identifier designated in print data received by the receiving means from the host computer matches an identifier stored in the storing means when a decision is made that the first setting has been made. |
