PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for of sterilizing treatment by which the object of sterilization such as cereals and seeds are readily and efficiently sterilized homogeneously under a normal temperature and normal pressure condition without damaging the quality of the object. SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 for the sterilizing treatment has a hopper part 3 for storing the object of the sterilization, a vessel 4 for the sterilizing treatment, enclosing a discharge side electrode 7 for carrying out the sterilizing treatment by transferring the object of the sterilization in the hopper part 3 and comprising many needle-like electrodes 6 arranged at a prescribed interval, and a ground side electrode 10 separately arranged from the discharge side electrode 7 and comprising a plane electrode of which the surface is covered with an insulation plate 8, a power source for impressing a high voltage between the electrodes, and a discharging means 5 for discharging the object of the sterilization, subjected to the sterilizing treatment in the vessel 4 for the sterilizing treatment to the outside. The object of the sterilization such as the cereals and seeds charged in the vessel 4 for the sterilizing treatment is sterilized by pulse streamer discharge within the range of 20-60 KV/cm electric field strength, 100-1,000 pps frequency and 0.05-0.5 μs pulse width. |
