PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a septic tank from which scum is extracted irrespective of the presence of a maintenance inspector and not wasting electric power. SOLUTION: This septic tank is provided with a thickness measuring means for measuring the thickness of scum, a scum removing means and a control part for operating the scum removing means when the scum thickness measured by the thickness measuring means exceeds a set value.
