PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve alignment of a delivered sheet by stiffening the sheet without adverse effect on carried property of the sheet. SOLUTION: This carrying device has first sheet carrying means 2 and 3 for carrying a sheet S, a second sheet carrying means 4 disposed downstream in carrying direction of the first sheet carrying means and 3 and a stiffening member 5 disposed on a sheet carrying path between the first sheet carrying means and the second sheet carrying means and stiffening the sheet S while in contact with the sheet S. The stiffening member 5 is not abutted on the sheet S while the sheet S is carried by only the first sheet carrying means and is disposed at a position abutted on the sheet S when the sheet S is carried by both of the first sheet carrying means and the second sheet carrying means.
