PURPOSE:To prevent a fixing device cleaning a fixing roller with a cleaning web from being exchanged before the service life of the fixing device expires. CONSTITUTION:The cleaning web 51 is pressed against the fixing roller by a web pressing roller 54, while being wound on a web winding roller 53 from a web feeding roller 52, to clean the surface of the fixing roller. The effective length of the web 51 is set so that the period of the completion of winding by the winding roller 53 coincides with the estimated exchange requirement period of the fixing roller. A notched part 51a is provided in the close proximity of the tailing end part of the web 51 and the arrival of the notched part 51a at a winding completion advance notice detecting position M is detected by a winding completion advance notice detecting means 60, to be displayed. When a prescribed number of recording materials are fixed after the detection, the winding is considered to be completed, and it is judged that the fixing device is used to the limit and the fixing device is exchanged. |
