PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device and a method for desalting condensed water, by which the generation of sulfuric acid ion is prevented while the ion exchange capacity of the device for desalting condensed water is kept. SOLUTION: This device 13 for desalting condensed water is arranged in a condensed water cleaning system 10 of a power plant and for removing ion component impurities from condensed water b. An alkaline material adding device 14 is arranged on the upstream side of the device 13 so that the pH of the water b to be introduced into the device 13 is made to be 8.6 or higher by adding alkaline material. A weakly acid cation exchange resin is used as the ion exchange resin in the device 13.
