<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the stress corrosion cracking of a high hardness steel sensitive to such cracking in the hardness of above a certain level while keeping a strength necessary for a structure. SOLUTION: This method for preventing stress corrosion cracking comprises heat treating, at a temperature of 500-1,200 deg.C, the surface part of a high hardness steel selected from high hardness steels of carbon steel, low alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel and precipitation hardening type stainless steel, and thereby making the hardness of the surface part lower than that of the inside.</p> |
