摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop techniques for eliminating the deterioration of operability or damage to refractories in a smelting or refining furnace for various metals, improving a secondary burning rate and heating efficiency, improving the efficiency of melting/refining reaction and thermal efficiency, saving resources and energy, and also reducing a slag generation quantity. SOLUTION: A gas adapted to a smelting or refining purpose is used by preheating at a high temperature. When an oxygen-containing gas is used, a gaseous oxygen concentration is set to be above a prescribed value. Even when any kind of gas is used, it is preheated at a temperature of above the prescribed one. The ratio of the maximum to the minimum of gas jetting flow rate or gas flow rate is regulated to be above a prescribed value, and the gas flow rate is reduced stepwise or continuously during smelting or refining. Further, a bottom blowing, agitating gas is properly blown in.</p>
