PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a space of an operation part of an air conditioner for an automobile without deteriorating operability. SOLUTION: In this air conditioner for an automobile for selecting a specified air conditioning command by the turning operation of an operation dial 10 attached to an instrument panel 20, graphic characteristics 12 to 16 for schematically indicating a plurality of air conditioning commands are arranged on the top surface of the cylindrical operation dial 10, and an index 21 for selecting the air conditioning command is provided on the panel 20 just above the dial 10. Therefore, a space of an operation part can be reduced without reducing the dial diameter.
