PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dye composition which has an extremely high hair- dyeing force, is scarcely faded with the passage of time, and hardly changes the color of the agent, even when stored. SOLUTION: This hair dye composition containing a direct dye (I), (II), (III) or (IV) (m) is 0, 1 or 2, (n) is 1 or 2; R1 and R4 are each H, a lower alkyl or a halogen; R2 is H, a lower alkyl, an aryl [when (m) is 2, two R2 groups can form a cyclic structure together with CH2 CH=CH]; R3, R5 and R6 are each H or a lower alkyl, or R5 is bound to the ring B5 through CO-O to form a lactone ring; the broken line expresses the presence or absence of aπbond; D1 is O, S or NR25; D2 is O, S, NR26 or CR27R28; D3 is N or CR29; D4 is O, S or NR30; Y1 and Y2 are each O or S; groups (2), (6) and (8) are each a group at the 2- or 4-position; X- is an anion}.
