PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricating oil excellent in compatibility with hydrocarbons, lubricity, viscosity index and high-temperature detergency. SOLUTION: This lubricating oil comprises (E) a specific polyether represented by general formula (1): R1- (O-CH2CH2CH2CH2)m/(O-A)n}-OR2 [wherein, R1 is a 1-24C hydrocarbon group; R2 is a 1-4C alkyl group; A is one or more kinds selected from 1-4C alkylene groups except 1,4-butylene group; m and n are each an integer of >=1 satisfying that the weight-average molecular weight of the polyether (E) is 500-10,000; and the oxytetramethylene group (O- CH2CH2CH2CH2 group) and the oxyalkylene group (O-A group) may be bound randomly or in a block state] and having <=4 hydrophile-lipophile balance(HLB) and 500-10,000 weight-average molecular weight. |
