PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antibacterial compound useful in medical, agrochemical and industrial fields. SOLUTION: This method for producing the antibacterial compound comprises inoculating a live microbial cell of bacterium sp. FERM BP-5,479 belonging to the genus Pseudomonas in a compound of a hydroxybenzene and culturing the bacterium. The antibacterial compound obtained by the method is the compound of a hydroxybenzene which is universally distributed in a plant body, produced by utilizing the bacterium living in a natural world and usable in various uses as an environmental coordination type antibacterial medicine.
