NAPHTHALENE RESIN, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND FLAME-RETARDANT POLYESTER RESIN COMPOSITION COMPOUNDED WITH THE NAPHTHALENE RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a naphthalene resin having extremely narrow molecular weight distribution and provide a highly flame-retardant halogen-free polyester resin composition usable as a flame-retarding assistant for a thermoplastic resin, especially a polyester resin without lowering the mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The naphthalene resin having a narrow molecular weight distribution contains >=70 wt.% naphthalene resin expressed by formula (1) ((n) is 0 or 1) and <=5 wt.% component having a molecular weight higher than that of the compound of formula (1). The flame-retardant polyester resin composition is produced by compounding the naphthalene resin and a halogen-free flame- retardant.
