PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SOx absorbing material capable of being subjected to' regeneration treatment at a low temperature and capable of being subjected to regeneration treatment even in exhaust gas. SOLUTION: The SOx absorbing material is constituted of a porous material containing composite oxide consisting of a rare earth element M and aluminum oxide and characterized by that a molar ratio M/Al is 0.01-0.5 and M is present in aluminum oxide uniformly in a highly dispersed state and aluminate of M is not substantially contained. Since the basic site (M) necessary for absorbing SOx is present in large quantities in a highly dispersed state, absorbed SOx becomes easy to decompose and the SOx absorbing material can be regenerated at a low temperature of 450-600 deg.C. |
