PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage vessel for an atomic energy waste, which can improve productivity, yield, and besides, an impact resistance. SOLUTION: The waste storage vessel made from an austenitic stainless steel including B for an atomic energy is obtained by (1) melting a steel with a composition consisting of, by mass, C: 0.2 or less, Si: 5.0% or less, Mn: 10.0% or less, Ni: 3.0-35.0%, Cr: 15.0-30.0%, Mo: 10.0% or less, B: 0.05-5.0%, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities, (2) preparing the powder with an atomization by using an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon, (3) filling the powder in a vessel of an austenitic stainless steel sheet, (4) processing it with HIP, (5) removing the sheet which forms the vessel of the austenitic stainless steel sheet, (6) rolling a compact of the HIP treated powder, and (7) welding the rolled material to form a predetermined vessel.
