摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main spindle device capable of reducing a thermal displacement amount due to the generation of heat occasioned by rotation operation of a main spindle and shortening the warming-up time occasioned by rotation of the main spindle, in the main spindle device used in a precision finishing machine. SOLUTION: In the main spindle device used in the precision finishing machine, heating devices 7 and 8 are provided to heat working fluid, such as air, supplied to a radial pad 3 and a thrust pad 4 serving as a hydrostatic bearing. During a stop before rotation operation of the rotary shaft 1, the temperature of working fluid is heated by the heating devices 7 and 8 to feed it to the hydrostatic bearing. A main spindle rotating body and its vicinity are heated, and simultaneously with the starting of rotation operation of the main spindle or after a lapse of a specified time beginning with a time after the starting of rotating operation of the main spindle, heating of the working fluid is stopped. This constitution can provide thermal stability of the main spindle and its peripheral part in a short time, reduce thermal displacement due to the generation of heat occasioned by rotation operation of the main spindle, and shorten the time for warming-up occasioned by rotation of the main spindle.
