PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a flat homogeneous steel sheet by straightening a steel sheet before cooling with inexpensive equipment without lowering efficiency, thereby uniformly cooling the high-temperature steel sheet after hot rolling by on-line cooling. SOLUTION: A hot-rolling mill 1, a simple roller leveler 2, an accelerating cooling system 3 and a roller leveler 4 are arranged in this order. The simple roller leveler 2 is provided with knock-down rolls 5 as a camber straightening mechanism and leveler rolls 6 as a repeated bending straightening mechanism. The number of the leveler rolls 6 is reduced as compared with the number of the leveler rolls of the roller leveler 4, so, in the simple roller leveler 2, the flatness of only the steel sheet of <=20 mm thick can be corrected. Thus, the cost of equipment of the simple roller leveler 2 is inexpensive.
