PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the crack generation of a Zn-Mg-Al alloy wire rod in the processes from continuous casting to rolling and wire drawing, and to diminish nonconformities of breaking, and the like. SOLUTION: A process is composed of a first process form continuous casting to rolling for continuously producing a rod product, a second process working it to an arbitrary rod shape, and a third process work-finishing from the rod shape to a circular wire material. In this process, casting to mold releasing is carried out within 25-30 sec, casting and mold releasing temperatures are controlled to 430-480 deg.C and 150-190 deg.C, respectively, and further, material temperatures before rolling in the second process and before working in the third process is heat-controlled to 60-100 deg.C and 40-80 deg.C, respectively, so that a macrostructure of cast pieces is composed of columnar dendrite of 1.5 mm or more from the surface to the center of cast pieces, and an average grain diameter of deposits rich in Mg deposited on this part is less than 5μm.
