摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a method for machining the peripheral edge of an eyeglass lens that even in case of a lens frame variously different in a groove opening angle and a groove depth, even in case of a groove shape being measured with a lens frame slightly inclined, a holding device to securely hold the lens frame and a contact do not interfere with each other, a side difference between the groove shape of the lens frame and the spectacle lens after machining of the groove is not produced, and wit the frame reliably fixed, the shape of the lens frame is measured in correspondence with a contact position between the groove of the spectacle lens after machining of the groove and the lens frame, the groove is machined such that the spectacle lens is caused to correspond to the contact position in a state to match with shape data, and the spectacle lens is closely and firmly held by the spectacle frame, to provide a device for machining the peripheral edge of a lens and the eyeglass lens. SOLUTION: A contact 5 having width lower than the width of the groove 1d is brought into contact with two sides 1b and 1c of a slope approximately in a V-shape to measure the shape of the lens frame of the spectacle frame. The points of the two sides 1b and 1c of the groove, the shape of which is measured, with the tip part of the contact 5 brought into contact with the groove form the contact point of a groove substantially deepest part and the groove is machined in a shape such that the lens is engaged with the groove.
