The present invention relates to wound dressings comprising an improved therapeutic effect due to the presence of the therapeutically active agent attached thereto. The invention provides a method which allows an optimal correlation between the degree of oxidation of a cellulose-based carrier and the amount of the therapeutically active agent attached thereto. The invention further discloses the use of the enzyme terrilytin in combination with other proteins as therapeutic agents. Furthermore, a method of manufacturing said dressing is disclosed.
