A stand-alone printing apparatus for transferring an image from photographic film to a print medium is provided having a scanning member for producing a digital representation of the image captured on photographic film and a printing member for producing a pattern associated with the digital representation on the print medium. The printing member receives and processes the digital image representation directly from the scanner member. The printing member preferably includes a controller fro controlling the scanning member, as well as processing the digital image data and generating print commands for driving the print member may be integrated within the printing member, or, alternatively, may be connected externally of the printing member by way of a communication link. Instructions for scanning and image processing may be provided to the controller through a user interface which has a plurality of activating buttons for initiating functions. A film developing unit may also be integrated within the printing member for developing film from a camera. The developed film may then be scanned by the scanning member to produce a digital representation can then be used to drive the printing member. |
