FRICTION AND ABRASION RESISTANT GELATINOUS METALLO-SULPHURATED ADDITIVE FOR OIL, AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An oil-soluble complex consisting of molybdenum, copper-sulphurated and organic colloid is provided which is a friction and abrasion resistant additive used in oils for motors, transmissions and other industrial oils, and an additive is provided which has superior degree of surface activation and corrosion resistance by adding a special detergent as a stabilizer to the additive. CONSTITUTION: The oil-soluble friction and abrasion resistant gelatinous metallo-sulphurated additive for lubricating oils is obtained by stabilizing the sulphurated mixture with a stabilizer after sulphurating a mixture of petroleum, molybdenum trioxide and copper. The method for manufacturing the oil-soluble friction and abrasion resistant gelatinous metallo-sulphurated additive for lubricating oils comprises the steps of heating the mixture to the temperature of 160 deg.C under the agitating conditions for 10 to 12 hours after uniformly mixing petroleum with sulphur powder and molybdenum trioxide; heating again the resultant mixture under the agitating conditions for 3 to 4 hours after adding copper powder to the obtained mixture; adding an emulsifying agent to the cooled mixture after cooling the obtained mixture to the temperature of 90 deg.C under the agitating conditions; and cooling the obtained mixture to a temperature of 40 to 50 deg.C.
