PURPOSE: A settlement system and a method using an electronic account on the Internet are provided to offer the convenience and security of a settlement in an Internet electronic commerce by downloading the electronic account. CONSTITUTION: A settlement system includes a user(10), a bank(30), an operator(20), and an information providing company(40). The bank(30) possesses a bank account of the user(10) and is connected with the operator(20) by a private line. When the bank(30) is applied from a client an Internet banking, the bank(30) transmits it to the operator(20). The information providing company(40) contracts with the operator(20) about an electronic account including a calculating period and a commission and installs an electronic account settlement line on a settlement system. The operator(20) is connected with the bank(30) and the information providing company(40) by the private line. The user(10) downloads the electronic account from the operator(20) or the information providing company through the Internet and pays the purchase price by using the electronic account. The electronic account is a kind of electronic wallet used when the user purchases a product at the information providing company(40) through the Internet.
