<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold electron emitting element having a long life which enables improving the emission efficiency of the cold electron emission element and prevent deterioration of the cold electron emission element and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A hydrogen storing material which is in advance filled with hydrogen is used for, for example, the emitter 7 of the cold electron emitting element that is sealed in a vacuum container, and after a gas exhausting treatment in high temperature, a getter flush treatment is applied. Then hydrogen is emitted from the hydrogen storing material and the surface of the cold electron emitting element is reduced, and by preventing the lowering of the emitting current flow caused by oxidization, a long life of the cold electron emitting element is obtained.</p> |
