PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize the amount to be stored (printing data amount or transfer data amount) before data are received from a host device and to decide whether printing of a plurality of sheets or printing of a single sheet is to be performed. SOLUTION: A printing system where a plurality of sheets of data are printed by a single data transfer is provided with a transmission means for transmitting the amount of printing data before printing data are transmitted and a performing means for recognizing the data amount transmitted by the transmission means, comparing the amount with present memory capacity and printing a sheet of data when data cannot be stored in a memory.
