PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cascode oscillation circuit suitable for circuit integration and to provide a method for designing the circuit on the basis of an algebraic approximate expression for its operation with a large signal through the use of a modified Bessel function. SOLUTION: The cascode oscillation circuit 1 is provided with a Colpitts oscillation circuit 10 consisting of a transistor(TR) Q1, a TR Q2 whose base is connected to the collector of the TR Q1, a resistor RA connecting the bases of the TRs Q1, Q2, a constant voltage source 20 connected between the base of the TR Q2 and a power supply, and a load resistor RD connected between the collector of the TR Q2 and the power supply. A common base amplifier consists of the TR Q2, the constant voltage source 20 and the load resistor RD. Since this amplifier eliminates the need for a ground capacitor whose capacitance is liable to be large and the constant voltage source 20 is employed in place of a breeder resistor for the TR Q2, the cascode oscillation circuit can be operated at a low voltage with a satisfactory output amplitude.
