PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize recording of density which is higher than conventional cases, enhancing magnetic power in dispersion properties to improve a magnetic layer in surface smoothness. SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium 1 is equipped with a magnetic layer 3, formed by the application of a magnetic paint containing magnetic powder, that contains Fe and a nonmagnetic support 2. The magnetic powder 2 contains 1.0 to 20 wt.% Al in a ratio of Al to Fe and one out of nonmagnetic metal elements, having trivalent ionization energy range of 30 to 45 eV in an amount of 1.0 to 40 wt.% for the ratio of the element Fe. |
