PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a call to an optional opposite party without performing a key input operation or display confirmation on a display, to reduce the complicatedness of call out and an input operation and to prevent an erroneous input or a malfunction. SOLUTION: This portable telephone set provided with a memory for storing the opposite party telephone number in a folding type telephone set main body 10 is provided with a multicolored light emitting LED 16 disposed so as to be visually recognizable from the outside with the telephone main body 10 folded and side keys 17 for selecting an optional light emitting color by turning on/putting out the LED 16. Each light emitting color of the LED 16 is allocated to each opposite telephone number stored in the memory, a desired opposite telephone number is designated by selecting each light emitting color with the side keys 17, and also, a call is automatically made to the opposite telephone number of the light emitting color selected with the keys 17 at the same time with the opening operation of the folded telephone set main body 10.
