PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alkaline storage battery excellent in preservation characteristics at high temperature by suppressing generation of a self-discharge reaction in a negative electrode using a hydrogen storing alloy electrode, when the alkaline storage battery is reserved at high temperature. SOLUTION: The hydrogen storing alloy electrode 2 using a hydrogen storing alloy is added with a carboxylic acid salt of an alkali metal. And, the hydrogen storing alloy electrode 2 added with the carboxylic acid salt of the alkali metal like this, is used for the negative electrode of the alkaline storage battery.
