PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a high-grade luminance signal, drastically reducing a color edge jag emphasized by edge emphasis. SOLUTION: A signal processor processes an image signal, and is provided with a color edge detection circuit (109) which detects hue difference between adjacent pixels and APC Main Gain circuit (118) which emphasizes an edge of an image by amplifying a luminance signal by a gain determined based on the hue difference detected by the color edge detection circuit.
