PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the positioning accuracy of a magnetic head in the height direction during the time when it comes into sliding contact with disk, and to secure the workability for incorporating a magnetic head supporting mechanism into a magneto-optical recording/reproducing device. SOLUTION: An extension part 7b formed by extending the tip of a head arm 7 further than the position of a magnetic head 3 has an abutting part 7c in the tip of its bottom surface, and the magnetic head 3 is positioned by this abutting part 7c. The head arm 7 is provided with an abutting lever 7d in the bottom surface of a rotation fulcrum side end. In the state of a single magnetic head supporting mechanism constituted of an angle 6, the head arm 7, a torsion spring 9, a suspension 8, and the magnetic head 3, the abutting lever 7d and the angle are brought into contact with each other, and the head arm 7 and the angle 6 are open in this case, thus facilitating the insertion of a holder 11 or the like. On the other hand, in a state where the abutting part 7c is abutted on the holder 11, the abutting lever 7d and the angle 6 are not brought into contact with each other, and not interfering with positioning by the abutting part 7c.
