PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process Gerber format data without going through a form of CAD data in order to produce NC produce NC data directly from the Gerber format data, and prevent generation of abnormality of data during conversion process besides saving trouble for processing. SOLUTION: The apparatus extracts the outline as a line segment data from the data showing surfaces of the work in the Gerber format data and also optimized them so as to minimize vector information of the line segment data. It reads in a definition file that matches the conditions from the machining conditions inputted. Also it selects the most suitable pass for machining according to the coordinate information of the aforesaid optimized line segment data and the inputted machining conditions. These line segment data, machining conditions and data of machining passes are outputted as NC data.
