PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character string prediction control method and a character string input device, by which the overhead of a CPU can be reduced and the input of character can be supported without disturbing the character input operation of a user. SOLUTION: A character input speed inputted from an input device 1a is measured by a character input speed monitoring processing part 1b-3 and when the speed exceeds a specified value, a retrieval target range is set only to a learning dictionary by a retrieval target setting processing part 1b-4 but when the speed does not exceed the specified value, the range is set to a prediction dictionary and the learning dictionary. Afterwards, in an input predicting processing part 1b-6, while using an inputted character code as a base character string, the predicted character string is retrieved, acquired and displayed on a display device 1c. Thus, the overhead of the CPU can be reduced and the character input can be supported without disturbing the character input operation of the user. |
