PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is necessary to narrow clearance between an exciting means and the fixing surface which is opposite to it, as a result the fixing face is probably scratched when the exciting means is deformed or moved, in the case of an image heating device which heats a rotary induction heating element by an external exciting means. SOLUTION: An endless heating member and an exciting means which is disposed along the peripheral surface of the heating member and induction-heats the heating member, and a holding member which holds the exciting member and is made of an insulating, nonmagnetic material, are included. The holding member has partly has a space in an axial direction, so that the fixing surface is prevented from being scratched when the holding member is deformed.
