PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control the temperature of a heating rotary body without causing a remarkable temperature reduction especially at the central part of the heating rotary body at the time of executing a fixing operation even when a temperature detector is arranged in the non-paper passing area of the heating rotary body. SOLUTION: This fixing device is constituted so that the heating temperature of a heater heating a heating roll is changed by a control means and, also, is set so that the heating temperature of the heater at the time of executing the fixing operation is changed to such a temperature that the difference between the maximum temperature and the minimum temperature at the paper passing area of the heating roll which are previously measured at the standby time of the fixing operation is added to the heating temperature of the heater at the standby time of the fixing operation one time or more in prescribed timing.
