PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an 'energy saving' operation method for a cold storage type drink cooling device saving power consumption and supplying a sufficiently cold drink in selling. SOLUTION: This ice storage type drink cooling device mounted on a cup type drink automatic vending machine or a drink dispenser equipped with an evaporation coil for a refrigerating machine, a drink cooling coil interposed in a drink supply line, and agitator for agitating water in a cooling water tank filled with water. The cooling water in the water tank is held at low temperature by driving the refrigerator and using the storage heat of ice icing on the circumference of the evaporation coil, and the drink flowing to the drink cooling coil is cooled by agitating the cooling water in the water tank by operating the agitator. The agitator is stationarily operated during operation of the refrigerator, and for a prescribed time after stopping the operation and in selling the dink. It is changed over into a dual cycle where the agitator alternately and periodically repeats the operation and stop during a time zone for waiting the sale except for the above mentioned time zones.
