PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval support system to enable support of an operation to retrieve desired information from plural pieces of information to be retrieved by utilizing correlation between retrieval words and use frequency of the retrieval word, etc. SOLUTION: In the retrieval support system, a first storage means 1 to store the plural pieces of information to be retrieved, a second storage means 2 to store plural retrieval words to retrieve the information to be retrieved, a third storage means 3 to store the correlation between the retrieval words or the use frequency of individual retrieval words, a retrieving means 4 to extract one or more pieces of the information to be retrieved from the first storage means 1 by using the plural retrieval words and a candidate for retrieval word display means 5 extract the retrieval word having the correlation with the selected retrieval word based on the correlation between the retrieval words or the use frequency of the individual retrieval words stored in the third storage means 3 or the retrieval word with high use frequency from the second storage means 2 and to display them as candidates for the retrieval word to be selected next are provided.
