PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that an image signal recorded with aspect ratio of 16:9 for high quality in image cannot be reproduced in a television with regenerative function like video CD. SOLUTION: The television includes a second control means for controlling a reading means for reading a video disk and a reproducing means for reproducing the AV signal, a setting means for setting a reading aspect ratio of the video disk, a detecting means for detecting the aspect ratio of the video disk, a memory means for storing the aspect ratio during the reading of the video disk, and a communication means for communicating the first control means and the second control means.
