PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an electrode foil for aluminum electrolytic capacitor, by which the capacitance of the electrode foil can be improved by improving the etching method performed on the foil. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing electrode foil for aluminum electrolytic capacitor in which aluminum foil is etched in many stages, intermediate treatment is performed for forming a retarding coating film between etching steps and the etching is performed, while the foil 1 is being pulled in the rolling direction. Consequently, the effective surface area of the aluminum foil 1 can be enlarged, and electrode foil having a high capacitance can be obtained.
