production of knitted articles. SUBSTANCE: method involves transferring links in succession from transfer needles onto receiving needles; knitting links through. Prior to link transfer operation, links disposed under hooks of link receiving needles are transferred onto rods, and links transferred onto link receiving needles are knitted through links disposed on rods. Process is performed without thread feeding operation. Method allows edge on any part of article to be effectively closed and, as a result, different structural effects to be produced.
