In a timing correcting device, first, a RAKE path detecting circuit (1) detects multiple candidates of a path to be followed from a received signal and outputs a path timing and a detection correlation value corresponding to each path candidate as the result; next according to the result of detection assigned individually, following path candidate judging circuits (2a, 2b, 2c...) generate predetermined judging criteria required to select the optimum path timing from the timings of the path candidates; a following path selecting circuit (3) selects the optimum timing of the path to be followed according to the path detection result and the predetermined judging criteria; a comparator (5) compares a predetermined reception reference timing externally fed with the optimum path timing and calculates the phase difference between the two; and lastly a timing correction control circuit (6) corrects the reception reference timing by controlling a clock according to the phase difference.
