A novel human G protein-coupled receptor (GPcR) protein, IGPcR17, is identified and characterized. IGPcR17-encoding nucleotides, IGPcR17 proteins and fusion proteins, antibodies to the receptor, host cell expression systems, animal models in which the IGPcR17 gene is mutated, recombinant knock-out animals that do not express IGPcR17 and transgenic animals that express an IGPcR17 transgene are encompassed by the invention, as are compounds that modulate gene expression or receptor activity of IGPcR17 and their use for drug screening, and diagnosis or treatment of diseases, particularly central nervous system disorders.
