STEERING ANGULAR VELOCITY DETERMINATION APPARATUS FOR USE IN ELECTROMOTIVE POWER STEERING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A steering angular velocity determination apparatus is provided to achieve an improved yaw stability by estimating the angular velocity of the motor and performing a damping control for steering operation in proportion to the angular velocity. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a torque detection unit(2) for detecting the size of the torque in accordance with the steering operation performed by a driver; an electronic control unit(4) for generating a motor current corresponding to the size of the torque supplied from the torque detection unit; and a motor driving unit(6) for assisting the steering operation of the driver by driving a steering assisting motor in accordance with the motor current being fed from the electronic control unit, and determining the angular velocity corresponding to the rotation of the motor and supplying the determined angular velocity to the electronic control unit, such that the electronic control unit damp-controls the motor in accordance with the angular velocity of the motor.
