SUBSTANCE: the device has a fixture for clamping the bead forming ring with an external peripheral surface, clamping fixture adjusting gear and a mechanism for production of the linear elastomer strip. The latter is made for production of the strip of non-vulcanized elastomer material with a cross-section shape corresponding to the cross-section shape of the packing cord and feed of the elastomer strip. The device is provided with a fixture for cutting of the elastomer strip with a length corresponding to the wrap of the bead forming ring, and a unit for application of the elastomer strip on the external peripheral surface of the bead forming ring, having a pair of applying rollers positioned opposite each other in the axes of rotation and made with a shape of a truncated cone, whose outer surfaces are separated from each other by a gap. The mechanism for installation of the fixture for clamping is made for accommodation of the bead forming ring in the gap, and its transverse configuration corresponds to the required shape of the cross-section of the packing cord. The mechanism for installation of the fixture for clamping is made for feed of the packing cord to the external peripheral surface of the bead forming ring through the gap at a linear velocity lower than or equal to the peripheral velocity of the surfaces of the applying rollers. The gap is made with a configuration providing for action of the applying rollers on the elastomer strip and application of it on the external peripheral surface of the bead forming ring. The invention provides for the method of application of the packing cord. EFFECT: provided installation of the packing cord with its height-to-width ratio exceeding 3: 1 without twisting and stretching. 16 cl, 34 dwg
