PURPOSE: A method for controlling air flow direction is provided to allow a user to enjoy a comfort sleeping environment by automatically adjusting the air flow direction during sleep mode. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step(100) of turning on a compressor; a second step(110) of controlling the operation state in accordance with the sleep mode selected by a user; a third step(120) of controlling the air flow direction in accordance with the air flow direction set by the user; a fourth step(130) of operating the air conditioner for a time period selected by the user; a fifth step(140) of controlling the air flow direction adjusting unit in an indirect air mode; a sixth step(150) of adjusting the angle of the air flow direction adjusting unit in accordance with the angle set by the user; a seventh step(160) of achieving a comfort sleeping environment by operating the air conditioner at the indirect air mode; and an eighth step(170) of canceling the indirect air mode and operating the air conditioner at an initial operation mode, if a cooling operation key is input from the user.
