The invention provides a process for the production of mainly C5+ hydrocarbons comprising contacting carbon monoxide and hydrogen at a temperature in the range of from 180 to 270 DEG C and elevated pressure in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising cobalt, manganese and at least one of rhenium and/or ruthenium on a titania carrier; a catalyst composition comprising cobalt, manganese and rhenium on a titania carrier.
