PURPOSE: An apparatus for eliminating scum and impurities is provided, which can remove scum in a generalized simple process so that the process can be automated. The process also can prevent any clogging of scum discharge pipe and disc type screen by spraying wash water into the pipe so that can diminish maintenance cost of the facility. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a scum pit(10), a scum suction pipe(30), a scum discharge chute(35), a disc type screen(40) and a scum container(70). The scum pit(10) collects scum and impurities from water surface and discharge through an inclined scum discharge pipe(20) to a disc type screen(40) in a vertical scum suction pipe(30), to the pipe(30) wash water nozzles being installed to prevent scum from attaching to the disc type screen(40) and pipe inside. The disc type screen(40) is lifted by a pickup rope(50), the rope being moved by a rope drum(51) driven by motor, to carry scum to a scum discharge chute(35), from which scum drops into the scum container(70).
