PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the overlap feeding of sheets and the misfeeding by variably adjusting the frictional force between a paper feeding roller and a frictional separating member. SOLUTION: This manual paper feeder 4 is additionally mounted on an image forming device 1 comprising at least an image data receiving part 2 and an image forming device 3. The manual paper feeder 4 comprises a manual feeding unit 5 loaded by a user for feeding the sheets, and a sheet separating unit 6 comprising at least the paper feeding roller 17 for conveying the sheets loaded on the manual feeding unit 5, the frictional separating member 18 holding the manually fed sheet with the paper feeding roller 17 for conveying the sheet by the frictional force, and a frictional force varying mechanism 20 for varying the frictional force for holding the sheet between the feeding roller and the frictional separating member.
