PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the heat-insulating effect of a roof. SOLUTION: In the substrate material 2 of a roof structure, the horizontal base sections 4a of a plurality of fittings 4 are fixed onto the substrate material 2, and a heat-insulating material 8 such as thick plate-shaped glass wool is arranged onto the substrate material 2 while being positioned among the lower upstanding sections 4b of the fittings 4. A plate-shaped upper substrate material 10 is placed and fixed onto the upper horizontal sections 4e of the fittings 4. An air layer 12 having a fixed space partitioned by the upper upstanding sections 4d of the fittings 4 is formed between the underside of the upper substrate material 10 and the heat-insulating material 8, and a plurality of metallic roof plates 14 are mounted on the upper substrate material 10 through connecting means such as clips 18. Holes 5 are formed to the upper upstanding sections 4d of the fittings 4, and the air layer 12 can be made to flow towards a ridge from the edge of eaves through the holes 5.
